The challenge is out: Can everyone get #ParisAgreement and #Means4Me trending on Twitter and Instagram, and gathering likes on Facebook?
The secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is hoping that they can make the signing of the Paris Climate Change Agreement in New York go viral on social media.
The secretariat launched a social media campaign Wednesday in support of the agreement’s signing, which will take place on April 22.
“The Paris Agreement can only be successful if everyone fully supports and helps bring it to life,” the agency said in a statement.
Under the agreement 195 nations have agreed to fight climate change and to dedicate action and investment toward a low-carbon and sustainable future.
Ahead of the agreement the UNFCCC is encouraging people to say what the agreement means to them and what they are going to do to support it.
The secretariat is looking for short videos to a maximum of 30 seconds recorded on smartphones, tablets, notebooks or desktops and then posted to social media - Twitter, Facebook or Instagram - with the hashtags #ParisAgreement and #Means4Me.
The UNFCCC says it will share the best ones over its social media channels.
