“'We stepped in and started doing it': How one woman built an award-winning news outlet from her dining room table," the headline reads.

Last week, the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University featured the “improbable” journey of Observer Media Group and its founder, Linda Solomon Wood. It also shone the spotlight on National Observer's investigative work.

“Little about her story is typical,” writes Nieman Lab deputy editor Laura Hazard Owen. “From her dining room table… She launched a national, investigative digital news site that, just three years in, is winning prestigious awards, and is on the path to becoming entirely funded by readers.”
