Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership candidate Caroline Mulroney says she's off to a roaring start in building a campaign war chest.

Mulroney's team released a statement on Thursday saying she had raised $486,208 from 983 individual donors in just nine days.

This is more than Premier Kathleen Wynne's Liberals were able to raise in any month over the past year, Mulroney's campaign said. The early total also shows she has out-fundraised her opponents, the statement said.

"Caroline will ensure the party is ready to win in the upcoming June election," said the statement. "This is just one more clear indication that members are excited about her new and different approach."

Mulroney is going up against Christine Elliott and Doug Ford in the leadership race which began last month following the sudden resignation of former leader Patrick Brown over allegations of misconduct.

Brown has denied doing anything wrong and vowed to clear his name.
