C. Forbes Tompkins
Forbes Tompkins is a Research Analyst in the Global Climate Program at the World Resources Institute. His work focuses on the analysis of climate change impacts throughout the United States and strategies of mitigation and resiliency at the local, state, and federal level. As part of WRI’s U.S. Climate Impacts project, he works to ensure policymakers at all levels of government are aware of climate impacts, resiliency efforts to address them, and the need for a comprehensive mitigation policy. His work has included briefings for Members of Congress and local elected officials regarding already occurring impacts of climate change, authoring peer-reviewed publications, fact sheets, info graphics and blogs. He served as WRI’s scientific representative on the Third National Climate Assessment and U.S. aspects of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Fifth Assessment. He participated in the United States Global Climate Research Program’s Communications Affinity Group for the Third National Climate Assessment and is a member of the Valuation and Risk Management Affinity Group for the Fourth National Climate Assessment.
