Cynthia Levine-Rasky is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont., where she teaches courses in social problems, the sociology of health, and applied sociology. Author of books and articles on critical whiteness studies, her most recent work reflects her interest in Romani Studies: Writing the Roma (2016) and A Romani Women’s Anthology: Spectrum of the Blue Water (co-edited with Hedina Tahirović-Sijerčić (2017). Cynthia’s writing has also appeared in Canadian Dimension; Refuge; NOW Magazine, The Winnipeg Free Press, and The Globe and Mail. She has an acute interest in community-based research, social justice, and activism. With Lisa Kowalchuk, Cynthia is co-editor of a book-in-progress entitled, We Resist: Defending the Common Good in Hostile Times, a collection of short essays by activists, community leaders, and writers.
