David McLagan
David McLagan leads the Fire, Earth, Water, Air Contaminant Biogeochemistry Lab (FEWA Lab) and is a jointly appointed Assistant Professor between the School of Environmental Studies and the Department of Geology at Queen’s University. He gained a PhD. from the University of Toronto and was awarded both a Governor General’s Gold Medal (2018) and a Governor General’s Innovation Award (2023) for the quality and impact of his doctoral thesis research. Dr. McLagan’s research uses a total systems approach to improving our understanding of pollutant cycling and effects in the environment with a focus on developing novel, accessible technologies that produce direct, tangible impacts on science, society and the environment. Dr. McLagan’s teaching focuses on wildfires, oceanography, hydrology, and multidisciplinary environmental science.
