Jean-Luc Marcil Ferland
Jean-Luc Marcil Ferland served as director of communications for two ministers of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and in senior communications and policy roles for the President of the Treasury Board in the federal government.
In 2021, he led the launch of the French edition of the Canadian International Council’s digital magazine, Open Canada, serving as its first editor.
Ferland started his career as a history teacher in the National Capital Region and returned to the classroom briefly to lend a hand during the COVID-19 crisis.
He now lives in Paris, France, and occasionally comments on Canadian politics and society, with a focus on Canadians’ perceptions of themselves, their leaders, their institutions and their place in the world.
