Jeremy Walker
Jeremy Walker is director of the Climate, Society and Environment Research Centre (C-SERC) at the University of Technology Sydney, where he is senior lecturer in Social and Political Sciences, School of Communication, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Drawing on the history of political economy, science and technology, his research focuses on neoliberal economic theory, political organization and government in relation to the fossil fuel sector, clean energy transition and climate justice.
His recent monograph More Heat than Life: the Tangled Roots of Ecology, Energy and Economics (2020, Palgrave) presents a panoramic history of the development of liberal economic theory and ecosystems ecology, and the relation of both 'twin sciences' to the emergence of thermo-industrial capitalism, energy physics (thermodynamics) and the Earth system sciences.
