Joe Reid is the vice-president of wealth management and impact investing at Vancity. Since introducing Canada’s first SRI mutual fund in 1986, Vancity, through Vancity Investment Management, has been a Canadian leader in SRI and ESG-investment, offering only 100 per cent fossil fuel-free investments.

Reid has worked in the wealth management industry for over 26 years and is committed to seeing the industry shift from solely focusing on profit to one that puts social and environmental principles at the centre of business models. Reid is a board member of the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education in Vancouver and sat on the board of the Vancity Community Foundation. He has also participated in the BC Cooperative Association mentorship program, which connects students interested in better understanding the values of co-operatives with a leader in the co-op space and is also a mentor with Bringing Women Together Mentorship program, which connects women and allies across the BWT network. Reid is a “reluctant” runner who has completed five half-marathons. In his spare time, he and his wife enjoy hiking, snowshoeing and travel.
