About Zachary Paikin
Zachary Paikin is a research fellow at the Institute for Peace and Diplomacy and a contributing author to Marginalisé : réflexions sur l’isolement du Canada dans les relations internationales, published in August by Presses de l’Université Laval. He is also a researcher at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels and holds a PhD in international relations from the University of Kent.
Does the world really need more Canada?
Our increased dependence on the U.S., our smaller relative weight in a globalized world, and our general disinterest and lack of investment in international affairs all leave Canada unequipped to play the role of a middle power.
